I’m hoping to see some of the new rooms that the hotel has created for the new animated film EPIC that is about to be released on DVD. Check out what the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar has for families and stay tuned while I explore the resort and share my experiences next week.
CABO DEL SOL, Los Cabos, Mexico The Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort is a favorite destination for many families, offering safe fun in the sun just a short flight from some of the largest cities in the United States.
“Families love to reconnect at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort because we provide a balance of relaxation in our Old Mexico-style villas, socialization by one of our four sparkling pools, leisurely sport on the greens of Cabo del Sol and much more,” said Renato Mendonca, general manager, Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort. “Every family will make unique memories with us, and we hope they will want to return again.”
Los Cabos is home to a variety of year-round recreational options where the desert meets the sea: whale watching tours in the winter, hikes through the desert to see hundred-year-old cacti, snorkeling around Land’s End Arch, coming nose to nose with a dolphin, riding a camel on the sandy beach, fishing for blue marlin. The activities desk at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar can introduce families to the stunning natural world of Baja California Sur, as well as organize other excursions like trips to the historic town of San Jose del Cabo and rounds of golf at the area’s award-winning courses.
From July through November each year, the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar hosts a program that’s a favorite with kids and adults alike. The resort is part of the Los Cabos government’s Olive Ridley sea turtle conservation program. Eggs laid on the Sheraton’s sandy beach are carefully collected and transferred to a nursery where they’re held for the 45-day incubation period. The hatchlings are then returned to the nesting area and released at sunrise or sunset. Guests are able to participate in the releases, choosing a turtle and helping it return to the ocean, as well as learn about the nesting process and protection of the Olive Ridley turtle throughout the incubation and hatching season. Last year, the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar oversaw the release of more than 3,500 sea turtles.
After a full renovation, Sheraton’s Adventure Kids Club reopened in April 2012. The club brings together indoor and outdoor activities for kids four to 12 years old. Up to 30 children at a time are able to utilize flat screen TVs with video game systems, craft areas, board games and more inside. Outside, a new pool excites kids with aquatic fun like a mushroom waterfall in the center, bridge and spraying jets of water. In addition, babysitters are always available 24 hours a day to take care of kids while their parents enjoy alone time.
Families can take advantage of a great dining deal for their children using the SPG Kids Pass, an all-inclusive dining option for guests 12 and under. With the SPG Kids Pass, kids can dine at Tomatoes Restaurant and La Sirena Snack Bar any time of day, as well as enjoy unlimited milk, juice, soda and water.
