Yes I have to fly to New York City just to eat here. I love this place. They have the best pastrami sandwiches and the best cheesecakes. I can’t eat cheesecake anywhere else.
Located in midtown Manhattan, this restaurant has been around since 1937. I took my mother here when we were staying at the Waldorf Astoria. I think it was my mother’s dream to stay at the Waldorf Astoria. Since we only had a few days, we did the NYC double decker bus tour. Best way to see everything in such a short time. The key menu items that I love here are the bagel and lox as well as the sandwiches – specifically the pastrami sandwiches. You can’t get a bigger sandwich and I have never seen them bigger anywhere else.

Also the cheesecake:
Every single time I have followed the recipe on the site for this cheesecake, I never get to eat a slice of it. I take it to parties and it’s gone within minutes. It’s getting to the point that I just make two of these. I need to begin making these again. The key in baking these cheesecakes happen to be the two step process it takes to set it initially, cool it and then a final bake. I like my cheesecake to be more traditional with a strawberry preserve and fresh strawberry topping. I will post a photo of what I bake when I get around to it. You can try the recipe forand tell me what you think. I have ordered this cheesecake before and I would say this would be a great birthday gift – Hint! Hint! I also just realized you can order pastrami and corned beef for mail order. I’m going to have to try that too.
