Kidz Bop has one of the highest selling children’s albums in the US and maybe even the world. They actually sell more records than Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga and they do this by singing these famous artist’s songs. Kidz Bop has been around for a very long time. I remember when they were selling their albums on television commercials and I just love the songs. They are fun and they may change the lyrics for kids to remember but for the most part, they are probably an act that would be a good “first concert” for kids. As a SeaWorld San Antonio Wildside blogger again this year, receiving complimentary passes to experience all that SeaWorld has to offer allows me to share my experiences with you.
Kidz Bop started off SeaWorld San Antonio’s Just for Kids Concert series as they make their way through their Dream Big Sing Loud tour at different cities around the country. They hit things off in spectacular fashion yesterday, April 26 with Just for Kids and the series continues with different acts until May 17. Every Sunday, Elmo Rocks will be rocking the house with all concerts for both weekend days at the Nautilus Stage. For a full listing of shows, check out the . All concert lineups are announced on Monday prior to the Saturday shows so check back often. Concerts are twice daily at 12:45 pm and 3:15 pm. Wristbands are required to enter the theater and are given out on a first come first served basis for free near Nautilus Theater. There are also special seating areas (up front) where you can purchase those wristbands at Guest Services for $5.00.
The Kidz Bop kids are Ashlynn, Bredia, Grant, Jayna and Matt. As they introduced themselves on-stage they also introduced where they were from. It was great to see a Dallas native out there with Grant and you could tell Dallas was represented well at SeaWorld San Antonio because as soon as he announced he was from Dallas, TX – a loud cheer came from the crowd.
Many of the hits they performed yesterday at the Just for Kids concert included many popular hits such as: One Direction’s “Story of My Life,” Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Lorde’s “Royals.” My daughter’s favorite song is from The Fox “What did the Fox Say?” and they sang that song yesterday as well. Overall it was a great show and they passed out some freebies at the end of the show. My favorite singer up there was Jayna from Baltimore, MD. She has a fantastic voice and she did very well with Katy’s Perry’s high notes on the song “Roar.”
Yet all the kids are talented and I can’t imagine them not ending up somewhere on stage when they get older. It was a fantastic show and for an adult it was great for me since I’m very familiar with the songs.
As for the Just for Kids concerts they are great for kids that range in ages from toddlers to ten years old but check the listings every Monday. Last year my kids got to see Caillou at Just for Kids 2013 and since my younger two are toddlers they enjoyed that concert. You will more than likely see a lot of shows that you are familiar with from PBS at many of the Just for Kids concert events. Near the Nautilus theater there will be many photo opportunities with larger than life flamingos, and Octopus and a starfish so be on the lookout. Grab a Just for Kids brochure map that is yellow in color and it will help you pinpoint all the activities that are just for kids.
If you have toddlers you will want to make your way over to the Bay of Play where you will see the Sesame Street characters perform shows as well as provide photo opportunities. Franklin may also be there as well for photo opportunities. To get a breakdown of all the festivities just visit.
Also remember that you can upgrade your single day tickets to annual passes or purchase the fun card to see all the performances. What I love about SeaWorld San Antonio is the EZ Pay system that can spread payments for the passes out into 6 month increments. Great for budgets and you still get year round fun. Get a BOGO Fun Card to get a great discount on tickets for the family.
